his story. our mission.

We are Kian’s family and before Kian’s Korner was an organization, it was a journey our family was living every single day.

Our son, brother, and greatest little fighter, Kian Jasai, was born prematurely with Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia (TOF/PA), a complex congenital heart defect. His journey introduced our family to a world we never imagined would become so familiar. NICU and CVICU rooms, open-heart surgeries, ventilators, specialists, medications, difficult decisions, long hospital stays, and learning how to advocate for someone we loved more than words could explain.

As Kian’s mom and a registered nurse, I understood much of the medical language surrounding his care. But our journey taught me something I could never have learned in nursing school:

There is a tremendous difference between being the nurse and being the mom at the bedside.

And as a family, we learned that medical complexity affects far more than the child who carries the diagnosis. It affects parents, siblings, marriages, careers, finances, routines, relationships, and life at home. There were moments when we needed information. Moments when we needed resources. Moments when we needed someone to listen. And moments when there was absolutely nothing we could do except pray, trust God, and hold on to one another.

Along the way, people stepped into our corner. Nurses, physicians, therapists, social workers, chaplains, family members, friends, and even strangers helped carry us through some of our hardest days.

When Kian’s earthly journey ended, we knew his impact couldn’t end with it.

Everything our family learned, the resources we discovered, the importance of advocacy, the support we received, the things we wished we had known sooner, and the faith that carried us became the foundation for Kian’s Korner.

Today, our family carries Kian’s legacy forward by standing in the corner of other families navigating medically complex journeys.

We may not be able to change their diagnosis or take away every difficult day. But we can provide resources, education, advocacy, organization, prayer, and support. We can remind families that they are seen. They are heard. And they don’t have to figure everything out alone.

Kian’s Korner was born from our family’s journey, built from our love for Kian, and created to make sure another family has someone in their corner.

This is more than our organization.

This is our family’s way of continuing Kian’s legacy—one family at a time. 💙
